Lansing— Lawmakers again are debating legislation aimed at requiring public schools to adopt and implement policies prohibiting bullying or harassment at schools. The Republican-led Senate Judiciary Committee was hearing details about an anti-bullying proposal today. The policies would cover actions on school property, at school events and in school-related vehicles such as a bus.

TALLAHASSEE — Florida lawmakers agree that "sexting" penalties should be reduced for minors.The Senate passed the House version (HB 75) on a 39-0 vote today that would make a first violation a noncriminal offense and a second violation a misdemeanor. A third violation would be a felony.

Wis. bullying victim attempts to set self on fire

WAUPUN, Wis. (AP) - A school official in Waupun (wuh-PAHN') says a student who'd been the victim of bullying doused himself with gasoline and tried to set himself on fire. Superintendent Don Childs says the teen entered the Waupun Area Junior/Senior High School on April 25 with a water bottle filled with gasoline. He says the teen doused himself in a bathroom with the intention of burning himself.

BOSTON (AP) – Five teens are expected to resolve chargesagainst them this week in the bullying of a 15-year-old Massachusetts girl who later committed suicide. But one teen’s case is still slated to go to trial. Ironically, he is the one who was not charged with bullying the girl.

Seneca, MO- A case involving two Seneca cheerleaders accused of cyber-bullying is dismissed. The parents of two former Seneca High School cheerleaders asked that the case against the school district be dismissed without prejudice. That's according to court documents filed yesterday in Springfield.
