Under existing law it can result in minors being convicted on child pornography charges and being required to register as a sex offender.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill.• A 2007 probe for sex offenders who were using social media sites led Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan to the MySpace page of 35-year-old Carl Courtright. It took investigators two months to hunt down evidence and obtain a subpoena to request Courtright's name and address from his Internet service provider, then arrest the Granite City man.

SALT LAKE CITY-- An image of a towering column of smut was relayed during a news conference Thursday afternoon in order to give perspective to the scope and breadth of Operation Frosty Lime Squeeze. The operation was a coordinated effort during March between the state's Internet Crimes Against Children task force and 37 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
